A new year is here! And with that comes all of those new fad diets. So while we are all about keto-friendly and low carb here at Cali'flour Foods, by no means are we pushing a fad diet onto your plate. Instead, we wanted to take some time to clarify what Keto means to Cali’flour during this New Year, New You inundation.
To start, the ketogenic diet, also known as the keto diet, is a diet that typically contains 70% of calories come from fat, 20% protein and 10% carbohydrate. It forces our body to start using fat as fuel, instead of carbohydrates (glucose). This process also makes your body produce ketones, which is the byproduct of a fatty acid when it is broken down, which are used for energy.
The keto diet really started to enter the medical world to help decrease seizures in those diagnosed with epilepsy. However, today it has transitioned into a diet that can help you lose weight. For us here at Cali’flour, we see keto = low carb and that might mean you follow the keto diet strictly or maybe you need low carbohydrate foods that taste good and are made with simple ingredients. Either way, we’re here to cater to several households in order to bring healthy food to all of you!
While we know that focusing on eating fresh food is ideal, we also know that there will always be a need for quick meals and on-the go snacks to fit the comfort food cravings we love. And that’s what Cali’flour is here to solve, to make your life a little bit easier, whether it be pizza night or a long road trip. Most of our pizzas and flatbreads have 6 grams net carbs or less per serving, which is beneficial considering they are meant to be incorporated with our main meals and end up being a larger portion of our overall calories. Our latest addition to the Cali’flour family is our crackers and they only have 2 grams net carbs and 6 grams of protein per serving!

There are so many success stories we’ve seen that we love to share and celebrate, like this one proving the power of food and one of our most beloved stories, shared by a Cali’flour pal, Jimmy. So whether you’re giving this lifestyle a try for the first time or if you’ve been doing it for years, we wish you the healthiest and happiest 2022!
