National Nutrition Month: Why You Should Care

Celebrated every year, National Nutrition Month emphasizes the importance of eating a healthy, well-balanced diet filled with nutritious food. It also focuses on ensuring we're getting enough exercise and movement throughout the day and drinking plenty of water, all keys to lifelong success. Because, did you know that it's estimated that only 10% of Americans* eat the recommended daily value of vegetables? Or that over two-thirds of Americans are overweight or obese? A healthy lifestyle can be challenging, especially in a culture where diet pills and sedentary jobs have become more common. But it's not impossible! 

To help guide you through this nutritious March, we highlighted a few tips and facts to motivate you and your loved ones toward the best life you could live. 

1. Move. If you don't have the smart watch that is constantly reminding you to get up and move, then you might find yourself sitting for hours, without even realizing it! Try to get at least 30 minutes (60 minutes is great!) of movement a day. That can be yoga, dancing, walking or an intense workout to name a few!

2. Eat your vegetables. As you read above, Americans are not getting enough vegetables in their diet. And for some it is easier said than done. Whether you live far from fresh produce or you're on the run, we get it. But easy changes like choosing a cauliflower crust (you know our favorite 😊) can help you get closer that goal and closer to optimal health. 

3. Balance is KEY. All things in moderation is a great way to live. Perfection is not possible in today's world and there are numerous negative effects when we deprive ourselves from treats. Just remember, aim for a healthy diet full of whole foods, but don't put too much pressure on yourself.
