Thank you so much for all the blessings on my birthday. Where has the time gone? If you are anything like me, you probably ask yourself that question 100 times a day. Yesterday was my daughter’s birthday. I feel like I blinked and all of the sudden my little baby girl was 6’1” and transforming into a beautiful young lady. As I reflect over the last two years, I think back to family fun nights on Friday’s when I would make pizza for the family and we would play games. Every Friday I would make pizza and every Friday I found myself eating the toppings off and tossing the crusts. It felt like such a shame but who can justify eating those carbs, calories, and fillers when you have Lupus?
One night, my daughter, myself, and a fellow health coach decided to play around with a few ideas revolving around this DIY cauliflower pizza crust concept that I kept seeing online. The process was messy and frustrating. I could not help but think of all the people out there who were trying to make healthy choices and getting frustrated with this recipe. This recipe was booming across the internet, so there had to be a great reward at the end of all this work. I envisioned my friend with her toddler wrapped around her leg, stepping on pieces of cauliflower while she tried to make this DIY disaster. After a few attempts in the kitchen, my daughter and I decided we had to simplify the solution for people. We started making the crusts regularly but we had figured out a way to do it without the stress and mess! Pretty soon we had friends asking if we could bring them some of our healthy pizza for dinner.
I was health coaching at the time and I had clients who loved the crusts. They would ask me to bring the pizza to them when we had our meetings. I started to see a pattern… people really loved these crusts! As the love for Cali’flour grew, I quickly realized I needed to make this available to everyone! The product quickly grew from my kitchen to the farmer’s market to the local stores and eventually nationwide. We planted this seed in Northern California and have watched the love of Cali’flour spread across the nation and now it is reaching Canada!
I have been so moved by you, the Cali’flour Family. The stories of your own health struggles. Your victories on your weight loss journey. The outpouring of gratitude for this product and overwhelming support as we work through the growing pains and launch new flavors. You asked for a Dairy Free option and we brought the Plant-Based, You asked for a little spice in your life and we launched the Spicy Jalapeño! I can’t wait to tell you about our upcoming flavors but unfortunately, I can't spill the beans quite yet.
I pinch myself daily to see if I'm dreaming. Your testimonies are a constant reminder of what this is all about. Words don’t begin to express the gratitude I have for you.
